Dr. Amrita Sarkar Bio

Dr. Amrita Sarkar is currently a Principal Healthcare and Life Sciences Startups Business Development Manager at Amazon Web Services. She works with the CXOs and investors behind the world’s most innovative Healthcare & Life Sciences startups and helps them build and operate at scale, accelerate their time to market, overcome technical/regulatory challenges and win more business. Prior to joining AWS, she spent seven years as a Venture Capital investor (funding HCLS, AgTech and Energy startups) at Air Liquide’s Corporate Venture Capital fund in Paris and as a technology strategist at the iLab, Air Liquide’s innovation think tank. In 2018, Forbes voted Amrita one of 92 women disrupting Tech in France. She has also been a Techstars mentor for their Paris and Oslo chapters.

Amrita’s academic qualifications include a PhD in Computational Biology from NYU/mount Sinai, an MBA in Finance & Strategy from the Collège des Ingénieurs and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Biochemistry from Middlebury College. Having spent equal parts of her life studying, working and living on three different continents (Asia, North America and Europe), she now lives in New York with her husband. In her spare time, she enjoys developing recipes and writing about food. Her articles have been published by BBC Travel and Le Cordon Bleu.
